潘玉良，江苏扬州人。自小双亲过世，十三岁时被卖到安徽青楼直到十七岁嫁给潘赞化为妻。—九一八年考进上海美专，一九二—年赴法国里昂关术学院，一九二三年考入巴黎国立美术学院，一九二六年又进罗马国力美术学院进修两年油画及雕塑。一九二九年应刘海栗之邀回国上二海美术专门学校西画系主任，又任软于南京中央大学及新华艺专。一生充满传奇色彩的潘玉良足民初女性接受新美术教育成为画家的民初女性。一九三八年回法定居， 其后叫四十年常参展于巴黎独立沙龙并多次参加英、法、德、日及瑞士等国际展。一九七七午逝世于巴黎。法国赛努奇博物馆、巴黎市博物馆、巴黎现代美术馆，台北市市美术馆、中国美术馆均有收藏其品。 　　　　　　　　　　　Born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, Pan Yuliang was sold into prostitution at age thirteen when her parents died.She married into the prominent Pan family at age 17 and became Pan Zanhua's concubine. From 1918-1921, she studied at the Shanghai Art Institute and received an official scholarship to study in France after graduation. She studied at The Lyon Art Academy, the Paris National Academy of Fine Arts, and The National Fine Arts Institute in Rome from 1923-1926. Liu Haisu invited home to teach at the Shanghai Art Institute, Nanjing Pan Central Academy of Arts, and the Shanghai Xinhua Art Institute in 1929. Pan Yuliang was one of few women to receive and art education in China and abroad. In 1938, she returned to Paris where she actively exhibited in several salons. Pan had solo exhibitions in Japan and Belgium from 1953-1959. She received the highest honour of her career from Paris University in 1959 the academy acknowledged her many artistic when achievements. Pan remained in Paris until her death in 1977. Throughout her life, she produced more than 4,000 works of art. Her work has been acquired by significant public collections including: Mus'ee Cernuschi, The Paris Municipal Museum, Paris Museum of Modern Art, Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the National Art Museum of China in Beijing.
