二十四节气是中国古代劳动人民自然观的智慧结晶，它反映了太阳运行周期的规律，古人依此来进行农事活动，指导传统农业生产和日常生活，被誉为“中国的第五大发明”。2016年11月30日，中国申报的“二十四节气——中国人通过观察太阳周年运动而形成的时间知识体系及其实践”被列入联合国教科文组织人类非物质文化遗产代表作名录。专题创作初始，我就构想以二十四节气的每个节气来对应一幅表现农村生产生活的创作，可以比较全面地反映广东农村一年四季的面貌。然而，二十四节气起源于黄河流域，四季分明，相对于广东，因地处亚热带季节变化不明显，节气与作品内容难以对应。比如，广东难见大雪，就只能相对或象征了。节气也是文化的体现，有着丰富的民间传说、农谚与习俗，历代诗词、歌赋亦不计其数，从另一个角度反映着一种民族的渴求和精神归宿。于这组作品而言，也是对当下乡土生活的一种新的叙说。

　　The Twenty-four Solar Terms is the crystallization of the wisdom of the working people in ancient China, which reflects the law of the solar cycle and is honored as "The Fifth Invention of China". The ancients used it to guide farming activities, traditional agricultural production and daily life. On November 30th, 2016, "The Twenty-Four Solar Terms, knowledge in China of time and practices developed through observation of the sun's annual motion" has been listed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. At the beginning of the creation of this project, I would like to use the Twenty-four Solar Terms to correspond to each artwork that shows rural production and life, so as to more comprehensively reflect the face of Guangdong's rural areas throughout the year. However, the Twenty-four Solar Terms originated in the Yellow River Basin where four seasons are distinct, and Guangdong is located in the subtropical region where the seasonal changes are not obvious. Therefore, the solar terms are difficult to correspond to the contents of the works. For example, it is hardly to see heavy snow in Guangdong, but the "Great Snow" is only a metaphor here. The solar terms are also a manifestation of culture, with rich folklore, farmers' proverb and customs. There are countless poems depicting the solar terms in the past, which reflect the craving and spiritual endurance of a nation from another angle. This group of works is also a new narrative of the current rural life.
