画为心境，中国画可有大小写意之分，再有工笔之作，再还有西方之水粉，油画，版画如书法之篆刻。不管种类只求画好。好乃有标准，夏培民兄可画中西画之造型，色彩，又可画中国画之笔墨，实为难能可贵矣，故在写意人物花鸟画中皆为上乘之作。画贵于造型与笔墨之功夫，笔求其线条之流畅，富于弹性之美感，墨之在于浓淡枯湿干润之分。形体在于造型准确无误，这些皆常识基础。然无根之木无源之水皆不能得上品，若贯以心境之作，当之为精品。

培民兄数十年如一日，右述之论早已成器矣。今之佳作富于心境之笔尔，故赞之为序。

Arts indicate state of mind. Chinese ink painting varies from sizes, freehand-style brushworks and elaborate-style painting. In addition, there are western style in water color painting, oil painting, wood-cut painting and calligraphic seal cutting. No matter what kind of arts, we seek for fine arts, which has different criterion. Brother Xia’s works display not only western and Chinese style of shape, color, but also implies the capability of Chinese traditional ink and brushwork, which is indeed rare. Thus his works are excellent in freehand-style which implies accurate shape, capability of using ink, lines liquidity, elastic of brushwork and ink differs from heavy, light, wet and dry. These are all fundamental knowledge in Chinese art. But his works are also filled with state of mind, which is exactly the definition of fine art.  

Brother Peimin dedicated to painting ten years in one day and has been achieved a lot in the art field. Today I would like to write this article for his art collection because his works implies state of mind, which is indeed the fine art.
